Industrial and infrastructure sites often contain large volumes of redundant copper cabling. Removing and processing this material safely is essential, both for operational efficiency and responsible recycling.

FME recently completed a copper cable site stripping project, safely removing and processing large sections of redundant cable while maintaining strict safety procedures throughout the work.

Projects like this are about more than simply removing materials. They require careful planning, the right equipment and a team that understands both safety and environmental responsibility.

Safe removal and processing on site

The work involved stripping and processing heavy copper cable that had reached the end of its service life. Sections were carefully removed and handled before being fed through specialist equipment designed to separate copper from insulation safely and efficiently.

This process allows the valuable copper to be recovered while reducing waste and ensuring materials can be recycled responsibly.

Safety remained the top priority throughout the project. The team worked within a controlled area, using appropriate PPE and following established procedures to ensure the work was carried out safely from start to finish.

Recovering valuable materials

Copper is one of the most recyclable materials used across industry. By stripping and processing redundant cabling correctly, the material can be recovered and reused rather than being sent to landfill.

This approach supports sustainability while also helping clients recover value from materials that would otherwise be considered waste.

Experienced teams and the right equipment

Cable stripping projects often involve heavy materials, specialist equipment and strict safety requirements. Having an experienced team on site ensures the work is completed efficiently and without unnecessary risk.

From removal and processing through to responsible recycling, FME ensures every stage is handled professionally.
