At FME, we’re often called in to handle complex logistical and environmental challenges – and our current project in South Yorkshire is a prime example.

We’re now several weeks into an eight-week cardboard pallet removal programme at a major logistics site. The numbers involved are impressive: over 300 cardboard pallets must be safely removed, compacted, and recycled every single day.

Our role is to manage the entire operation – from on-site removal and handling, to compaction and loading, all while maintaining strict safety standards in a live operational environment.

High-Volume Waste Management in a Live Site

Cardboard pallets – particularly in high-volume retail and distribution settings – can quickly become a major logistical problem. If left unchecked, they take up valuable space, block access routes, and pose fire and health & safety risks.

That’s why our client turned to FME. With our experience in industrial waste handling, site logistics, and operated plant hire, we’ve been able to design a solution that keeps pace with demand – even at 300+ pallets per day.

The Right Tools for the Job

The scale of this project demands the right equipment. Our skilled operatives are using telehandlers with bespoke attachments to safely remove large cardboard loads from height – operating in tight spaces with precision.

From there, the pallets are loaded directly into compactors and waste units, ready for onward recycling. Every step is handled by our in-house team – reducing the need for subcontractors and keeping the process safe, compliant and efficient.
