Preparing a site properly is often the difference between a smooth operation and ongoing issues down the line. Whether it is drainage, access or load bearing requirements, getting the groundwork right matters.

FME recently completed a project involving the removal of 240 tonnes of inert material, followed by the installation of two new concrete pads built to specification.

This type of work is a key part of what we do. It is not just about shifting material and pouring concrete. It is about delivering a finish that is fit for purpose from day one.

Clearing the site and creating a clean foundation

The first stage involved removing a significant volume of inert material from site. This process creates the space and stability needed for any new installation.

Bulk removal needs to be handled efficiently to avoid disruption and delays. With the right machinery and planning, the material was removed safely and the site prepared ready for the next phase.

A clean, level and properly prepared base is essential before any concrete work begins.

Concrete pads built to spec

Once the site was cleared, the focus moved to constructing two concrete pads to the required specification.

Each pad was formed, poured and finished with accuracy, ensuring the correct levels, strength and durability for the intended use.

Getting this right is critical. Poor groundwork leads to future issues, from cracking to uneven loading. By following the correct process from the start, the finished pads provide a reliable, long term solution.

Built for durability and performance

Concrete pads are often used to support heavy equipment, storage areas or operational zones. They need to withstand constant use and environmental exposure.

By delivering work to specification, FME ensures the finished surface performs as expected, with strength, longevity and a clean, professional finish.
